# AIS Vessel Tracking

OpenTrack AIS Tracking provides real-time updates on a tracked container's position while it is in transit over water. Once a container departs on a vessel from the origin, OpenTrack will report the container's current position once per day until it arrives at the port of discharge.

Many customers subscribe to the [container.location.updated](https://developers.opentrack.co/reference/all-webhook-event-types-1) webhook event, which notifies you when the container's current location has changed. This includes the **Last Known Position** and the **Current Location.**
